What does it take to build a quick and profitable Internet list to market to? Just one thing, a money making program. Just for a moment let's consider what that means for either an Internet business or a local small business.
It has always been true that people seek ways to make money. A genuine money making program that does not require a big investment, (few people have a lot a money), does not require a lot of time, (most people hold a full time job), and has tremendous upside potential with little downside risk is of major interest to a great number of people. Some have estimated this number to be about 150,000 individuals a month. It is safe to say the number is going to increase during these tough economic times.
Consider for a moment what that would mean to you. Is there any doubt in your mind that if you could offer such a money making program that you could very quickly build, a list of interested buyers? Further is not it likely that a large portion of your list would ultimately becomes buyers? There is no question about it - people do it everyday. The unfortunate part is that many of these are scams. Yes, they look like legitimate offers, but actually they are merely ways to steal your money.
What you need to get started is simply a good money making plan - an honest plan. A plan that will make money for other people and you can feel good about offering.
The number of fortunes built on this foundation of helping others make money is huge. There is no telling just how big it is - but for sure, it is huge. I believe that of all the ways to make money, and there are certainly a lot of ways to do it, this one tops them all.
To begin with, it is information based so it is cheap to manufacture. It has very good shelf life - almost unlimited. It doesn't spoil or turn rotten. It doesn't require inventorying. It rarely requires tremendous investment of money or time. It is probably just about as ideal a way to make money as there is. Every legitimate franchise and dealership is built on this same basis, and that is why these are so popular. It is business building using a template - and it is effective.
I have spent nearly a lifetime learning about making money and this one has to be tops. I have watched as clients have developed businesses, some have done quite well. But the client doing the best had figured out that it wasn't the business at all that was so important but the ability of people to duplicate what he had done and make money at it. And that is the secret so many people need to understand. It really is not so much the business you are in but the ability to sell and duplicate the same business.
I wrote an article not so long ago about selling businesses and in it I mention that when it comes to selling businesses, moneymaking machines sell better than clumps of assets. That is a fact. If you are self-employed right now you may be sitting on top a goldmine if the business is profitable and you can teach others how to duplicate it. It is even better if the business does not require large investments of money, time or effort to start. But, even if it does, if it is profitable you are possibly sitting on a goldmine.
And just because you sell a business idea does not mean that you have to give up your business. It is not required that you sign a covenant not to compete. This is a negotiable issue. If you were in MLM, you certainly are not expected to give up your personal business when you recruit a new associate, are you? When McDonald's sells another franchise it does not give up the entire business, it just sells the rights to use the name.
If you have been in business a while, you have acquired a substantial amount of experience that could be converted into dollars. You would probably need to write out a training program as part of your sale. In all likelihood, you have found advertising and marketing approaches that work best for your business. Writing this down too is important. Finally, you probably have an idea of just what your business is worth. Remember, though you are not selling the assets, only the idea.
With your training program intact, your marketing program sufficiently detailed, and a reasonable asking price, you could begin a training program or an outright sale with training included.
The legal area to be aware of has to do with franchising. It is a regulated activity and you need to be careful to either make it a legitimate franchise or avoid the franchise title altogether. Your choices are either to develop a franchise (and you involve an attorney knowledgeable in franchise law), or you don't and go with a training program or a dealership model. These two are generally not regulated.
Remember this, so long as your business is profitable, it can be the basis of even more profits as a franchise, a dealership or as a training program. In either case, you may be sitting on a goldmine.
